In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs at the time within 6 months. It was a blend of pop and reggaeton which not only brought attention to Latin Music, but also reggaeton. In 2015, there were two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In 2017, during the height of popularity for Despacito the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish made it to the Top 100. The year 2020 will see it will have 41 songs within this genre. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito came out in the year 2017. Soon after, pop stars began to collaborate with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna collaborated with Maluma for the release of Medellin. As early as 2020, some reggaeton musicians protested that the genre was heading towards popular. Rauw Alajandro is a part of a new generation of musicians who are determined to shift the trajectory of. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
